About ExtraFokus
ExtraFokus: Your Independent Lens on European Reality
ExtraFokus is an independent European news outlet about power structures, lobbying, artificial intelligence, surveillance, freedom of speech and European politics. There are no advertisers behind it, no media house and no state subsidies.
Who is behind it
I am Kenn Hawk, founder and editor-in-chief. I am a trained journalist and run ExtraFokus on my own from Burgas, Bulgaria. I use AI tools in the editorial work, and how that works is described on the page Ethics & independence. I am responsible for everything that is published.
What we do
We follow cases where power would rather not answer questions: freedom-of-information requests to public authorities, the influence of lobbying, and the systems that watch citizens. We also analyse the news of the day and explain how we find and check information on the page How we work at ExtraFokus.
How we work
Every article lists its sources, so you can check us yourself. Errors are corrected at the top of the article with the date, and you can read more on the page Corrections and complaints. ExtraFokus is registered with the Danish Press Council (Pressenævnet) and operates under the Danish Media Liability Act.

The support model
How ExtraFokus is financed
ExtraFokus is 100% ad-free. There are no advertisers, no media corporation backing us, and no algorithm owners dictating what gets written. This means the site is entirely funded by readers who choose to support our work.
The model is simple: the journalism is and will always remain free for everyone. You are not paying for access to content, you are paying for its very existence. A supporting membership is €8 per month or €79 per year.
Be one of the first 100 members of ExtraFokus.eu and help us dig full time.
Ad-driven journalism optimizes for clicks, not the truth. ExtraFokus doesn’t chase stories that sell banner ads, we expose what is hard to document and uncomfortable to read. Making that choice costs us revenue. Your membership is what makes it possible.
